The members of the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame are an impressive group that includes four members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, several members of the College Football Hall of Fame, a number of Olympians, a Masters champion, former and some current NFL, NBA and major league baseball players, numerous state champion athletes and coaches and the most decorated athlete in the history of the University Interscholastic League – all of whom called the Big Country home.
4,400 acres North American Buffalo, Whitetail Deer, Rio Grande Turkey
Archery only hunts for whitetail deer and archery or modern smokeless powder shotguns for Rio Grande turkey. Elk hunting and buffalo hunting is generally restricted to archery and black-powder equipment. However, there are some exceptions: we allow modern .45-70 rifles to hunt buffalo as well. Camping available.
An equine therapy and horse rescue nonprofit organization providing therapeutic riding and skill-based training to individuals with special needs. Offering both weekly equine-assisted therapy programs and special summer residential programs. All programs are by appointment only.
Open Daily: Dawn to dusk. Camp Barkeley is an off leash park with 2-areas, 1-acre for small dogs (under 30 lbs.) and 2-acres for large dogs. The park has people benches, water, and waste bags on-site. Restrooms for humans are located near the Nelson Splash Pad just across the road from the dog park. The Center is home to more than 70 artist members and 10 working studios. The CCA’s five galleries feature local, regional and nationally-renowned photographers and contemporary artists working in a variety of media. The Center also hosts ArtWalk the 2nd Thursday of each month - 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy a free, family evening of art and entertainment in downtown.
